The Birth

Prepare, Educate & Support

Offering guidance and reassurance at every step of the way is essential, ensuring that you feel supported and confident in your abilities. I aim to create a personalized and comforting environment tailored to your specific needs and desires.

I also focus on creating a calming environment, where you can feel fully present in the moment. Encouragement and reminders of your strength are vital parts of my role, ensuring you feel empowered. We can explore relaxation techniques, visualization, and other methods that align with your preferences, helping to make the experience as comfortable and fulfilling as possible.

In addition, I'm committed to building a trusting relationship with you and your family, allowing open communication and flexibility as your needs evolve. By staying attuned to your desires and providing consistent support, I aim to make this journey a joyful and memorable one.

PostPartum

PostPartum Support

Each family has unique needs, and I am committed to tailoring my support to best suit your individual situation. My goal is to provide a nurturing, compassionate environment where you feel heard, respected, and empowered.

Postpartum Support typically encompasses assistance for:

  • Breastfeeding, pumping & bottle feeding

  • Physical postpartum support for mother (healing/feeling comfortable)

  • Emotional support for both mother and father

  • Infant Massage

  • Recommendations for safe baby products (creams, soaps, wipes, diapers etc.)

  • Swaddling

  • Baby wearing

  • Bathing baby

  • Along with various other encounters you might face

By fostering open communication and offering practical advice, I strive to ease the stress of this transition, allowing you to focus on the joy and wonder of welcoming your new baby. My commitment is to walk alongside you, offering reassurance and encouragement, as you embark on this incredible journey into parenthood.

Breastfeeding

During the crucial first week of breastfeeding, I stay close to the mother to support her while she’s establishing her milk supply. I provide guidance on proper latch techniques and positioning to ensure both comfort and effectiveness. My role is to offer gentle support and encouragement, helping to ease any concerns and build confidence in this new skill. We work together to overcome common challenges, such as engorgement or soreness, and I share tips on how to maintain a healthy milk supply.

Throughout this time, I also focus on the mother's well-being, reminding her to rest, hydrate, and nourish herself. Emotional support is equally important, as many new mothers experience a range of feelings during this period. I am there to listen, offer reassurance, and celebrate successes, no matter how small. I also appreciate educating the father during this period, as he often feels helpless in the breastfeeding journey. In reality, he has numerous roles he can play to support both mama and baby.

By fostering a nurturing and supportive environment, I aim to make the breastfeeding journey a positive experience, laying a strong foundation for the bond between mother and baby.

I want my clients to have options when selecting me as their doula. To illustrate this, I've created examples that show how you can choose the services that best suit you and your family.

Example 1:

  1. Utilize all or most of the services I provide.

  2. Receive support throughout pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum.

This option is ideal for first-time mothers who want to maintain control over their birthing experience while receiving support as they transition into parenthood and have chosen to breastfeed.

Example 2:

  1. Assistance in developing a birth plan.

  2. Identify a coping mechanism that aligns with your personality.

  3. Experience labor and delivery independently while applying the previous steps.

This option is perfect for mothers who have given birth before and are looking for a different experience, particularly those focused on natural childbirth rather than induction or epidural methods.

Example 3:

  1. Assistance in developing a birth plan.

  2. Utilize all or most of the pregnancy services I offer.

  3. Have me as part of your support team during labor and delivery (at home, in a hospital, or at a birthing center).

This option is beneficial for mothers who feel they do not require postpartum support or who choose to formula feed and do not need breastfeeding assistance.

Please keep in mind that these are merely examples of the needs of mothers and families. There are numerous options available, and we will discuss what your needs are in detail during our first meeting.
